Why is it that everyone else's year end is so relaxed whereas mine is so hectic?

It's almost like I'm an accountant and it's month end. Then again, it is not the end of the financial year.

PLUS, I am sick. How gross is that, to get sick during the year end period! Can't eat all kinds of food, can't drink cold fizzy drinks, can't drink alcohol (not that I adhere to this). But I hate the feeling if my throat so sore I feel like I almost can't swallow!

Let's hope this Christmas is not ruined. It'd better not be.

Watching two men (one of them my Bf) sweat it out over a tennis game is extremely entertaining.

To do list till end of the year:
Scalp cleansing treatment

Manicure Pedicure

Facial (Gold)

Buy stopper for 60litre bag
Facial (with extraction)
Visit the dentist
Buy quick dry towel
Renew yoga package
Renew hair treatment package

I had a relaxing facial the other day - thanks to a friend who took on a package, I was able to enjoy the gold facial (without extraction) for free. The facial is supposed to increase moisture level but I don't think one session helps much. Look forward to my next facial because the pores are so clogged!

Edit: Just came back from my facial session and I am so pleased. Had a special birthday treat from them and got to enjoy a $400 facial at half the price. I could tell the difference as my skin looked clearer & brighter after that, and the had almost no faint red spots at all, which i usually see after each facial. Was so tempted to take on 6+1 sessions of that treatment but I resisted!

I have amazing willpower.

I remember counting down to YQ's wedding in Feb this year - was my 1st time being a bridesmaid and certainly not my last. There was something quite magical about that marriage. I am not sure about you guys, but I always think that you can tell if a man loves her wife from the look in his eyes when he opens that door and gives her that first kiss after gingerly lifting the veil up.

And then the next countdown was 9 months away, in November for Shirley's wedding. Time flew too quickly, and before you know it, the gowns were chosen, corsages were made, (BF's) camera lens was bought, and everyone was ready for their big day!

Some shots for you to enjoy!

Nursing an eyelid infection at home on a windy Monday. Ate angel hair pasta + prawns + tomato cheese sauce. Contemplating visiting the BF who's cooking braised duck today. Getting bored with Rock Band - no longer feeling the compulsion to play it right now. Still remember days of rushing to the BF's house after work, skipping dinner & much-needed shower just to hit the drums. Maybe Chong is right, it will be a white elephant after two months. I have run out of photos to make polaroids of!

Christmas at Julian's - I think the pictures sum it all.

The food was great - roast beef! and airflown Norway sashimi (sliced by yours truly & Mr Ng)! And the gift exchange was the best... People don't turn up with awful presents - like the XXL army green tshirt I saw my colleague receive last Friday - because everyone gets the option of stealing someone else's present instead of choosing one under the tree. I bought a ancient replica phone which Germaine picked... Last year, I think I bought a chocolate fondue set. The best gift this year was Chong's quick dry & highly absorbent towel. Thinking of getting one for my Vietnam trip.

My department had our Xmas lunch on Fri - Boss At the Top gave everyone half day off! We were all thrilled but I left the office only at 4 plus after finishing my claims expenses (yucks) and other misc tasks that came in while I was on leave. Got some tacky presents (book mark, fridge clips & bottle pouch) & was just glad that the boss liked my H&M + Hello Kitty bedroom slippers and lip balm.  What a wonderful start to the holiday season - 4 more sleeps and we are bound for Malacca with the whole jean gang!  And then, Vietnam beckons! I will conquer Vietnam with my 50 litre bag, quick dry, high absorbent, antimicrobial towel and comfortable Birks.

I have always thought of myself as a rather good cook. Granted I am not precision perfect but you can never fault me for lack of dedication. I spend hours everyday immersing myself in the comfort of AFC and other miscellaneous cooking channels. I host cook-ins every week. I have my foolproof specialities - baked lamb shanks, roast chicken and cod on broth. I have more kitchen tools than I have clothes and have a huge propensity to haul home random culinary items in lieu of conventional shopping when I travel. All I bought from Paris was a sack of valrhona powder and a tube of algave syrup. Barcelona saw me pinching saffron threads; and from this recent Sydney trip, I acquired a vegetable peeler. Well, that and two vanilla nutmeg candles.

I really thought I was above par when it comes to whipping up a feast. Not many people my generation can say as much I believe. Well, until today when I finally found someone who could whop my ass in that department. Finally, some competition. One of my rather regular dinner guests threw a six-course chinese dinner at his pad this evening and really gave me a serious run for my money. Think Imperial Treasures standards on taste, presentation and speed. There were peking duck rolls, sze chuan stir fry asparagus with sliced fish, butterflied garlic prawns and all that jazz. This little man can really, and I mean really cook. It was such a splendid dinner I swallowed my pride for another potful of minced meat tofu. Everything was done to perfection for our little party of six; which leaves me with just a sliver of mortification for the lackluster three course dinner I served up a month back. Thank God I staked out dessert so people won't forget that I cook too. Japanese chiffon cheese cake was up this time round and it tastes like a mouthful of cloud - which is pretty incredible I reckon given fact that I decided on baking dessert only two hours prior to dinner.

Ain't complete without some vino from down under.

A tan is probably the only other thing I picked up in Sydney.

A few months back, I wrote on how Sugar, Tam and I embarked on an Engagement Ring fitting extravaganza at Marina Square. It was right after church and the fifteen minutes we had to spare before dinner saw us darting into every jewelry store, demanding to try on the biggest rock available. Our mission was to identify the optimal size for a "daily wear" engagement bling. Y'know in case one of us gets married really soon. One carat seemed like a decent start.

Forward six months. Tam and her Mister are engaged. It was such a beautiful story. They met at a brunch which one of them almost wasn't invited to. They started dating the week after. All was good. Then she was posted to the US and he was left forlorn in Singapore. Skype became their best friend. As did MSN and other technological aids. They scheduled flights back and forth and in between. One day he flew up to Napa, threw in the works and shoved her a rock she couldn't say no too. They flew home this week for the holidays and all of us did a massive catching up over dinner at Raw. It was a really fabulous night - great people, great food and heaps of laughter. I feel so happy for them, definitely one of the cutest couples I know; and the first in the circle to get hitched at that.

*dabs eye with tissue*

FYI, two-point-something carats make a perfect everyday engagement bling.

Feeling: happy

i enjoy reading channel news asia online when i have totally nothing to do. recently, i read about the Facebook 419 scam. if u havent read about it yet, u can read this article

any way, just opened my gmail inbox and was surprised to receive a similar mail by a customer who had once purchased stuff from me online. so the email came in as a normal email. not found in my spam nor junk box. anyhows, if not for the fact that this customer is not my personal friend, i could have bought the story and replied to the mail by asking more questions. well, im always easily conned, and i admit it! but i do read up on news and stuff ok.. so at least i know that such scams happen. just quite surprised that it will happen to me. hah.
